Haute Ink Privacy Policy

Effective 25 October 2026

Haute Ink keeps everything on your phone. It has no account, no server, no analytics and no ads. The only connection it makes is the App Store's or Google Play's own, when you buy or restore the plan.

What the app stores, and where

Your readings, reflection chats, the words and feelings you write, the photos you add to a chat, and your settings are saved only in the app's private storage on your device. We (the developer) never receive them, and no one else does either: the app sends nothing anywhere.

Your diary is sealed on the device: it is encrypted with a key that is made on your phone and kept in its secure storage (the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore), only on that phone. Someone who copies the app's files cannot read them.

When you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.

Camera

The camera is used for two things, and only after you allow it:

Photos you choose

When you add a picture from your library, you choose it in the system photo picker. The app sees only the picture you chose and keeps a copy of it with your chat. It cannot see the rest of your library.

Motion and other sensors

To choose a card the app reads the phone's motion, light and pressure sensors for a moment, and it notices a shake. These readings are used once, on the device, and are not stored.

The plan (subscriptions)

The plan is bought through the App Store or Google Play, with your Apple or Google account. The payment, your account and the renewal are handled by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies; we never see your name, email or card. The app only asks the store whether the plan is active on this device. Apple and Google send us sales reports that do not name you.

You can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions.

Notifications and the widget

The morning card and the reminder before the free days end are local notifications: the phone schedules them itself, nothing is sent to a server. On iPhone and iPad the home screen widget gets only the card of the day and whether the plan is active, never your diary.

Backups

The app's data is kept out of cloud backups: it does not go to Google cloud backup on Android, or to iCloud Backup or a computer backup on iPhone and iPad. This also means that if you lose your phone or reset it, your diary cannot be restored.

When you move to a new Android phone, the system's direct phone-to-phone transfer may copy the app's data to it, from one of your phones to the other.

What we do not do

Children

The app does not collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
